September 2026
Our September neighbor of the month goes to Laura Grisham of Ironwood! Laura is a secret, little hidden gem in our neighborhood! Let’s get to know Laura!
Laura and her family has lived in Palmer Woods for 5 years this December. She is the small business owner of Grinning Soul Crochet.
When I asked Laura to help us get to know her this is what she said:
“I fell in love with crochet watching my granny make pieces for her home and our family. She taught me the basics at a young age like how to hold my hooks, how to wrap my yarn, and how to start a chain. My mother later bought me my first set of hooks and a book of patterns. That’s when I learned to create all kinds of crocheted items. I’ve always enjoyed gifting pieces to family and friends, but after years of seeing so many faces light up in receiving a handmade piece, I knew I wanted to do more.
When my family and I moved to Jackson in 2021, we were lucky to find ourselves embraced by a vibrant and supportive creative community. Inspired by that energy, we grew into a yarn and craft boutique where we have hand-dyed yarn, fiber art and craft kits for all ages, and my handmade items.
You can find us online, at local pop-up events, creative gatherings hosted by local businesses, and fiber art classes. I truly enjoy connecting with my community, sharing the love of fiber art, and encouraging others to embrace the beauty of slowing down and creating.”
Laura has other talents to such as singing and playing the guitar! It has been great getting to know Laura. August 2026
Our August neighbor of the month goes to Shana Marshall of Windtree! Shana is a teacher at JMCSS where she is loved and admired by all our students!
She is currently teaching 1st grade at Isaac Lane Elementary School (4th year). Her first year teaching was kindergarten and she has also taught as an advisor in higher education (Bethel University), and private preschool. This is her 5th year as a teacher and 8th year in the JMCSS school district.
Shana and her husband and two children has been in the neighborhood 4 years as of July 1st. Shana represents our neighborhood well in the community and we are so glad she choose Palmer Woods! Let’s wish Shana a successful, safe school year!
July 2026
Our neighbor spotlight for July goes to Anthony Swift on Ironwood. Anthony has been a resident of Palmer Woods for 13 years! Anthony has been employed with West TN Healthcare for 12 years as a EMT. He spends many hours helping to save lives behind the wheel of the ambulance. It’s people like Anthony that takes pride in his job and believes in helping others.
In his free time he spends quality time with his wife and two boys. He is a true example of what Palmer Woods need to represent our neighborhood.
Let’s congratulate Anthony for being our July spotlight and if you see him behind that wheel, move to the side so he can go save another life, one at a time!
